Privacy Policy

Voice Journal Effective Date: March 5, 2026

Introduction

Voice Journal (“the App”) is a voice-based journaling application for iOS developed by Farhan Baig. This Privacy Policy explains how the App collects, uses, and protects your information.

Information We Collect

Voice Recordings & Transcriptions

The App records audio and transcribes it into text using Apple’s on-device Speech Recognition. Audio processing happens entirely on your device — no audio data is sent to external servers.

All voice recordings and their text transcriptions are stored locally on your device only.

User Profile

The App stores a display name (default: “Me”) that you may customize. This is stored locally on your device.

Theme & Preferences

Your selected theme color and tutorial completion status are saved locally using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults).

In-App Purchase Status

If you subscribe to premium features, your purchase status is managed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store payment information.

How We Use Your Information

Third-Party Services

Apple Speech Recognition

The App uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition framework. Audio is processed locally and is not sent to Apple’s servers. The App explicitly requires on-device recognition only.

Apple StoreKit

In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment details. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Data Storage & Security

All journal data (audio files, transcriptions, metadata) is stored locally on your device using SwiftData and the iOS file system.
The App does not use cloud storage, cloud backup, or remote databases.
The App does not include any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
The App does not collect device identifiers or usage analytics.

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any third parties.

Data Retention & Deletion

All data is stored locally on your device and under your control.
You can delete individual journal entries (including audio files) at any time from within the App.
Uninstalling the App removes all associated data from your device.

Permissions

The App requests the following device permissions:

Permission	Reason
Microphone	Required to record voice journal entries
Speech Recognition	Required to transcribe recordings on-device

Both permissions are required for core functionality and are used solely for the purposes described above.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
